In the memory of UT8LL

   UARL IOTA-committee has been created in 1993 under the initiative and at Victor Rusinov's (UT8LL) active participation, who headed new committee. Due to Victor's efforts also it has been incorporated the base to the further activity of committee - achievement of arrangements on cooperation and coordination of joint actions with RSGB IOTA Committee.

At the first stage the committee set as before itself the basic purpose: spreading "IOTA Directory" and popularization of RSGB IOTA Programme among the radioamateurs of CIS countries, simplification of procedure of attraction of all interested persons to participation in the given programme. Lately by forces of UARL IOTA-committee it has been distributed " IOTA Directory " (RSGB, 1994), then - a trial lot of the Russian-English version (after reception of the consent from RSGB IOTA HQ), and further - two more editions (1999 and 2001 ). In general for this time it is distributed more than 250 copies of "IOTA Directory" for HAMs from eight "countries" ("entities") of CIS.

In the work of committee references to founders of RSGB IOTA Programme, and constant consultations with members of RSGB IOTA Committee were not less important also concerning inclusion in programme IOTA and islands of Black Sea. Efforts of committee have crowned success - since 19.06.2000 in IOTA Directory have received their "own" islands the following countries: Bulgaria (EU - 1), Russia (EU - 1), Romania (EU - 1), Turkey (3: EU - 1, AS - 2) and Ukraine (EU - 3).

Besides it and other offer of committee on establishment of a post of representative IOTA on the CIS countries, due to the vigorous activity of its chairman Victor Rusinov and, in particular, significant growth of activity of representatives of the CIS in RSGB IOTA Programme also has found understanding on the part of a management of the given programme and its further practical embodiment during a life. Since April, 1st, 2001 Representative IOTA on the CIS countries (CIS IOTA Check point) appoints Igor Zeldin UR5LCV.

From the date of the creation UARL IOTA-committee operates exclusively on public principles. The committee is collective member of UARL.
The committee carries out constant information support of participants RSGB IOTA Programme: various consultations, spreading information diskettes with the full list of islands and Regulations about the programme, publications in mass-media of the current changes and the additions, the current and perspective activity of DXpeditions on the most "rare" islands, etc.
